Frana Logozar was born in Cara, on the island of Korčula in Croatia. After losing her mother young, Frana and her siblings largely raised one another and remained close throughout their lives, despite being separated across Croatia and Australia.
In January 1961, Frana came to Canada to join Stipe (Steve), whom she had married by proxy before they met in person. She arrived in Winnipeg in the dead of winter, and together they built a home, raised their four children - Kathie, Jackie, Steve and Vicky - and became part of Winnipeg’s Croatian community.
Frana was a master in the kitchen and garden. Her bountiful harvests and legendary feasts made holidays and family gatherings memorable for generations. Her Roman Catholic faith, Croatian heritage and lifelong friendships remained central to her throughout her life.
Frana lived to 93. At the end of that long life, she was surrounded by her family and died holding Stipe’s hand.
She leaves Stipe, their four children and eight grandchildren, along with relatives and dear friends in Canada, Croatia, Australia and the United States.
