GLADYS ELIZABETH TYCOLES

Peacefully on September 16, 2026, Gladys passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 90. Gladys is reunited with her beloved husband Fred.

She is survived by her daughter Joanne Bevilacqua, husband Stefano and their children, Anthony, wife Ashley, Matthew and wife Amanda, and Andrew and wife Mackenzie; son David; son Michael and wife Melanie, as well as her great-grandchildren, Knox, Claire, Lucy and Lily.

She is survived by her many cousins especially Norman and Roxie Graff as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother.

Gladys was born in MacNutt, Saskatchewan and obtained her registered nursing diploma from Saskatoon City Hospital in 1959. After obtaining her nursing license she travelled to Bermuda and then returned home to work in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. This is where she met and married the love of her life Fred. They eventually moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family spending 55 years together.

Mom was especially proud of her career at St. Boniface General Hospital where she worked as a RN for the majority of her career.

Our mother had a strong faith which she instilled in each of her children and was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd serving tirelessly on several committees until her recent hospitalization.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Ave. W., Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gladys’ memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Gladys was a wonderful woman. She traveled with me on one of my group trips and we all fell in love. When she would come in to CAA she would always give me a big hug. One time, she brought me a gift of a hair Barrett, full of pearls and flowers (not something I would have worn lol), but it was so sweet I have kept it all these years. I remember the first time I met her and her husband, I cant quite remember exactly what he called her (I think mom?) But I remember thinking how sweet they were together. I am sorry for your loss, no matter the age, its never easy. - Posted by: Novella Troia (Acquaintance) on: Sep 20, 2026

  • Joanne, David and Michael. Please accept my deepest condolences on your mother's passing. I have many fond memories of her as a young boy growing up on Laurentia Bay. I last seen her a little over a year ago when she stopped to visit my mother after my dad passed away. Hold her memories close and it will help you in your grief. Rest in Peace - Posted by: Rodney Hintz (friend and neighbour) on: Sep 19, 2026

  • Gladys was the spark behind the organizing of the Manitoba chapter of the Saskatoon City Hospital Nurses Alumnae. Thanks to her those of us who graduated from of S.C.H School of Nursing and landed in Manitoba had opportunity to meet twice a year for lunch. We reminisced about the old days and caught up with family news. My sympathies go out to you Joanne, David, Michael and your families. She will be missed.
