JO-ANNE SKERRITT

On September 17, 2026, Jo-Anne Skerritt passed away peacefully at the age of 78 at Deer Lodge Centre.

Jo-Anne is survived by Don, her beloved husband of 55 years; her daughter, Jennifer (Andrew Aiken); and her three cherished grandchildren, Amelia, Arlo and Alistair, whom she loved fiercely and who brought tremendous joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Dawybida (Gail); her niece, Rachelle Dawybida (Hugh); her nephew, Mark Dawybida (Michelle); and Ava, Anastasia and Anya.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Anastasia Dawybida.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Jo-Anne grew up on Sinclair Street in the city’s North End and graduated from Sisler High School. She went on to study at the University of Winnipeg before beginning a long career with Air Canada as a customer service agent.

Jo-Anne had a wonderful sense of style and a love for the beautiful things in life. She loved to travel, thoroughly enjoyed a little “retail therapy,” and firmly believed there was no such thing as too much bling. She looked forward to her yearly trips to Florida with Don and treasured time spent at West Hawk Lake, where some of her happiest moments in recent years were simply enjoying the calm with a glass of white wine in hand.

She was also the consummate “hostess with the mostess.” Jo-Anne could give Martha Stewart a run for her money with her elaborate tablescapes, Christmas themes and special décor. She had a gift for making occasions feel special and a home feel beautiful.

Above all else, Jo-Anne loved her family. She was devoted to those she loved, and nothing meant more to her than her family and, especially, her grandchildren. Her love for them was immense, and they will carry that love with them always.

Jo-Anne’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at Deer Lodge Centre, Tower 6, for the extraordinary kindness, dignity and compassion they showed Jo-Anne throughout her time in their care, and particularly during her final days.

In accordance with Jo-Anne’s wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest beside her parents at Glen Eden Cemetery during a private family gathering at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a gift in honour of Jo-Anne's life may consider a donation to the the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
