BRUCE MCRAE

January 30, 1961 - September 22, 2026

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bruce Allan McRae following a brief illness.

Bruce was born in Winnipeg, to parents Jean and Ken and is survived by sister Meredith and brother Don (Patricia). Bruce graduated from Shawnigan Lake school and was a naturally gifted athlete who also excelled at art and wood-working. He is remembered fondly for helping build the family cottage. His wit, big hugs and good nature will be greatly missed.

  • So sad to hear about my cousin Bruce passing away. very unexpected. over the years, bruce & i talked often, he from calgary & winnipeg & me from my home in SF california. he was always fun & very humurous to talk to about our forty niner & san jose sharks sports teams & the latest goings on. i went to 1 year @ university of manitoba back in the 80's where bruce & i pretty much did nothing but party & have fun. knocking beer off the tache hall dorm window ledges w/ a hockey stick, playing tennis @ unicity club, visiting the mcrae family home on waterloo st w/ my aunt jean & uncle ken & cousins don & meredith. running wild in beautiful winnipeg, always having a great time. wonderful memories. RIP Bruce. you will be greatly missed. Brian McRae Redwood City, CA. USA - Posted by: Brian McRae (cousin) on: Oct 01, 2026

  • Very sad to see a good friend of over 50 years go. He always had a positive outlook no matter how dire the real situation actually was. He had a way of making friends quickly. An example of this was a recent football game we went to last year where by the end of the game about 50 people where we sat were all yelling out his name Bruce. Bruce will be missed. - Posted by: Tony (Friend) on: Sep 27, 2026

  • This is very sad news. Bruce was a good friend of mine through our formative years at River Heights Junior High and Kelvin High School. I have a lot of great memories of our time spent together; playing sports, at school and running around the neighbourhood. Bruce had many friends just like me, he was very smart, had a great sense of humour, a math whiz, a zest for life and was indeed a very talented natural athlete. I have to share one of my fondest memories (and embarrassing) with Bruce and his amazing skills. We were probably in Grade 8 or 9 playing ping pong in his basement, he had just beat me at least three games, probably 5 in a row 11-0. He grabs a piece of birch firewood and says 'to give you a chance I'll play you with this'. He proceeds to beat me again 11-0! Hopefully I wasn't the only one he humbled like this :) Bruce holds a special place in my heart and childhood memories, I will miss his friendship, whit and smile. Rest in Peace Clay. - Posted by: James Veitch (Friend) on: Sep 24, 2026
