Peacefully on August 7, 2025, Mom went home to be with her Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ
Mom was born September 10, 1939, in Winnipeg to Jacob and Bertha Schwartz. Growing up in Charleswood next door to her paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Moving away for 10 years, Mom ended up back in Charleswood to raise her family and became a 3rdgeneration member of the Charleswood Horticultural Society.
As a teenager she loved to spend time with family and her cousin Miriam who was also her best friend at Winnipeg Beach where they would ride the wooden roller coaster endlessly.
In the earlier years Manhattan Beach Camp was a highlight for 2 weeks with family every July.
Thru the years Mom served joyfully in the church as a Sunday school teacher. Mom and Dad hosted small group bible studies in their home, both were also involved with Alpha classes at church. Mom was a mentor to many. As a teenager Mom and a girlfriend regularly sang duets at church. Every morning Mom would lay her hands on her children to pray and speak blessings over them; this was important to Mom. Thank you, God, for a faithful Christian Mother who set an example for her children.
We were given a privileged life; Mom was an awesome cook and baker and there was always lots of delicious food and treats to look forward to. Mom enjoyed picking Saskatoon’s, wild blueberries, and wild mushrooms.
She was an avid birdwatcher and loved photographing them along with other wildlife. Mom had a good eye for photography. Mom loved life – nature and hiking, with many thrilling adventures. Twice Mom witnessed a cougar in the bush.
Mom retired from a 30+ career with the Toronto Dominion Bank. Every winter Dad and Mom vacationed in the Hawaiian Islands, Maui being their favorite. We gathered as a family every summer at Indian Lake, Ontario where we always had a blast. It was always so much fun and lots of laughter, with many forever precious memories.
Boating, Canoeing and Fishing, hiking with late night pickerel fry's along with bon fires and toasting marshmallows, walking the beach in the moonlight and the children with their pails and flashlights looking for cray fish, Listening to the symphony of loons and the howling wolves in the distance. It was so magical and where the children never had set bedtimes. Every September Mom and daughter went on a challenging hiking trip. The biggest feat was climbing 1,500 stairs to the top of a mountain. Fueled by adrenaline kept us on the move. We never grew tired but to enjoy our surrounding’s and each other.
Thank you to our Church family and friends for their prayers and many acts of kindness. Interment has taken place at Chapel Lawn.
Special thanks to Rev Alan Duncalfe and Rev Bruce Martin and also to Mom’s Pall Bearers.
Missed, cherished, loved dearly She is survived by daughter Cheryl, son Glen (Wanda), 3 precious grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, sister Jeannette (Paul Dyck) nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Brother-in-law Norman (Maria) Nestie and many dear special friends.
