Germain Auguste Ferrand, aged 84, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026.
Dad was born in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, to Marcelle and Casimir Ferrand on July 31, 1942. He spent his early years in Ste. Rose, where he enjoyed bowling and playing pool and loved being an Air Cadet. Dad completed basic training in the army but was unable to pursue a military career because he was colour blind.
He later moved to Winnipeg, where he met our Mom, Yvonne, on a blind date. They were married on May 21, 1966, and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Dad leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Yvonne; his children, Robert (Destiny), Gerald (Cary), and Susanne (Rick); grandchildren, Forester (Cheyenne), Hunter (Jura), Mathieu (Paige), and Ryder; step-grandchildren, Kevin, Melanie (Matt), Riley, Kaelee (Matt), and Makenna; and step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Chase.
The youngest of eight, Dad is now at peace, reunited with the family who went before him.
We love you, Dad, and will miss you always.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff of Deer Lodge Tower 6 Dementia Care Unit for the loving care and compassion they provided Dad during his final months and days.
A private memorial service will be held with immediate family.
