LOUISE IRENE PERRAULT

(nee VERMETTE)

1934 - 2026

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Louise, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on September 16, 2026. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald; parents, Joseph and Annette Vermette; sister Laurette and husband Florent.

She will be missed by her sons, Allen (Gisele), Garry (Jacqueline), Guy (Tuula) and daughter Diane (Rod); grandchildren, Kristen (Darren), Sherry (Brad), Trevor (Chelsea), Jessica (Mac), Tyson (Yumi), Dana (Jeff), Sean (Lauren), Kyle (Nicole) and Derek (Molly); great-grandchildren, Autumn, Dell, Carter, Connor, Mason, Cohen, Luca, Ava, Nico, Natalie, Aidan; nieces and nephews.

Louise was born on a farm in St. Jean Baptiste on Valentine’s Day, so befitting, as her heart was full of love, especially for her family. Family was everything in her life. She was devoted, supportive and proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In 1952, she married Gerry and moved to Emerson, started a family and assisted in the family business, Emerson Paint & Body Shop. A few years later, she took on a part-time position at the Bank of Nova Scotia and later tutored high school students studying French. Louise’s ambition led her to follow her dream of becoming a teacher. She enrolled at the University of Manitoba in 1969, while still living in Emerson, which entailed commuting to the city and back each day. In 1970, the family relocated in Winnipeg.

Louise attained her Bachelor of Education degree in 1974 and began teaching in Iles des Chenes, finishing her long career at William Olser School in Winnipeg. After 18 years, she retired and enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Winnipeg Beach. She found great joy outdoors, tending to her flowers and spending quiet moments reading. Mom and Dad loved travelling to Hawaii and took many cruises. Mom especially enjoyed her trips to Old Quebec City and Europe. They also made many trips to Minnesota and Vancouver to visit family.

Her special qualities shone. She was loving, caring, thoughtful, understanding, hardworking, honest, inspirational, patient, energetic and fun. Mom was an excellent cook and took pleasure in hosting family gatherings. She was a person of deep faith.

Rest in peace Mom – you lived a full life! Your family will miss you dearly!

The family would like to express special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Action Marquerite (St. Vital).

As per Mom’s wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family only.
