LINDSAY PATRICK HAMILL

October 7, 1964 - missing since July 7, 2026

Lindsay Patrick Hamill was born in Winnipeg on October 7, 1964, the second son of Roy and Elizabeth (Liz) Hamill. The family moved to Lilyfield in 1981, and Lindsay attended Stonewall Collegiate before earning his Diploma in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba.

Lindsay spent much of his life farming. He began in the dairy industry in the Balmoral area and later operated a dairy farm north of Argyle. He had a particular love for heavy horses and used them for farm work whenever possible.

Lindsay later lived near Stony Mountain and Wawanesa before moving west with his wife, Nicole. They eventually settled in McBride, BC. Lindsay continued his love of heavy horses, including working with them to provide sleigh rides at Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna.

On July 7, 2026, Lindsay's quad and hat were found near a fast-moving stream close to the Fraser River near McBride. An extensive search was unsuccessful, and Lindsay remains missing.

Lindsay is deeply missed by his wife, Nicole; daughters, Jenny (Skylar), Kassidy (Taylor) and Kate; his mother, Elizabeth (Ray Harkness); siblings, Ian (Mindy), Cameron (Kristy) and Shayla (Wes), and their families; his Manitoba children, Justin, Cody, Luke and Levi, Carson (Sarah) and Cassidy (Brad), and their families; and their mother, Lisa.

A gathering to honour Lindsay will be held Friday, October 16 at 2:00 pm at Meadow Lea Hall, at the junction of highways 227 and 248.

Please RSVP to Liz at 204-861-0253 to assist with food arrangements.

  • The day Lindsay walked into my life was the start of an adventure I never could have dreamed of. He stepped up to be a father figure to me and my sister when we needed one most. He taught me things I never knew and helped guide me into the person I am today. Horses were a big part of Lindsay and I’s life, most of my memories with him have horses in them. I’ll never forget this one time we went on a trail ride, just the two of us. We came to a stream and he said to me we’re gonna have to cross. “I’ll go first” A heroic dad moment. Or so he thought. His horse decided the stream was the Grand canyon and very ungracefully jumped “across” the next thing I know Lindsay and the horse are stumbling and falling sideways into a pond. I was trying hard to keep a straight face but ended up laughing so hard I almost peed my pants when he stood up head to toe drenched. I thought I was going to get it for laughing but all he said was. “Don’t tell your mom about this” and laughed the whole way home . Lindsay often included me in his crazy excursions and taught me lots of valuable and none valuable skills, like how to combine with a team of horses hooked up to a converted PTO horse driven swather. Or how to get rid of gophers by using a man made pressurized gas blaster. He loved to invent things and was very creative. He never ceased to amaze me. I’m grateful for all the time we had, and love him more than words can ever express. Time is something that can slip away in the blink of an eye, cherish every minute. - Posted by: Kassidy de Bruin (Hamill) (Daughter) on: Sep 28, 2026
