ISABEL HODGE

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Isabel Hodge (née McIlroy), on Tuesday September 22, at The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre. It is also with a deep sense of relief, knowing that Mum has been released from her pain and can now rest in peace in heaven.

Isabel was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Robert McIlroy, husband of 56 years John S Hodge and brothers Robert and James. She is survived by sons John (Lenore), James (Elsa), Jeffrey (Julie), grandchildren Brian (Christine), Kevin (Linnéa) and great-grandchildren Sophie and Chloe.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Roman Catholic Church, 15 Columbia Drive in Winnipeg. Interment will take place in Living Waters Columbarium immediately after the liturgy.

With much gratitude, the family thanks the wonderful staff at Simkin Centre for their compassionate and attentive care to Mum. We know she appreciated it.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Simkin Centre or towards St. Gianna's Meditative Gallery: https://www.stgianna.ca/saint-gianna-beretta-molla-church/meditative-gallery-for-st-giannas/

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • September 29, 2026 Dear John, Jim, Jeff and families Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your dear Mum, mother-in-law and grandmother. We grew up across the street from the Hodges. John and I were the same age and became friends. I remember many a time being over at the Hodges and hanging out with John in the house or playing outside. I remember Mrs Hodge’s smile welcoming me over and inviting me to stay for a meal or two. Boy did Mr and Mrs Hodge enjoy their bus trips to various Casinos in Manitoba and outside. As an adult always nice to see Mr and Mrs Hodge at church at Our Lady of Victory church and then Mrs Hodge with John and Lenore at St Gianna’s. “A long life; beautifully lived” Rest in peace Mrs Hodge.
