DERYL WAYNE CAMPBELL
Deryl Wayne Campbell passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre after a hard fought battle with cancer, at the age of 77.
Deryl was born March 16, 1949 in New Westminster, BC. In his working years, Deryl travelled consistently between the west coast and Manitoba, and eventually he and his family settled in to call Brandon, Manitoba home. In Deryl’s retirement years, he found a new love in carpentry and became an accomplished wood worker, making a variety of beautiful pieces. His other great joy was entertaining family and neighborhood friends, and playing cards in the evenings, especially a game called Jokers, which he made the game boards himself. When he got stumped in a card game you could always count on Deryl to say “well, sh*t and 2 is 8!” It is a saying that all who knew him well, came to cherish.
Deryl was predeceased by his parents, Virgil Campbell and Margaret (Heppner) Ryckman. Deryl is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lynn Campbell (Bunting); sons, Calvin and Colin (Kelsey); and his grandchildren, Brooklin, Haven and Jaxon Currie, Elias and Eden Fedoruk. Deryl is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doralie and Mickey Roon, who he considered not only family through marriage, but best friends by choice.
As per Deryl’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, for all those who loved him to attend. In lieu of flowers or expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
