ROLANDE (ROLY) FRANCOISE LEMOING

February 28, 1947 - September 25, 2026

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons que Rolande (Roly) Françoise Lemoing (née Ritchot) est décédée paisiblement avec sa famille à ses côtés le 25 septembre 2026, à l'âge de 79 ans.

Roly was born to James and Germaine Ritchot. She grew up in Aubigny in the midst of a large, loving family, attended school in the area, and went to College St. Boniface in Winnipeg where she met her lifelong soul mate, Richard. Together, they lived in Brochet, Winnipeg, the farm near Basswood, and Minnedosa. The Basswood and Minnedosa area was their home of 48 years.

Roly was a mother, a grandmother, a nurse, a volunteer, a book clubber, a combine operator, a gardener, a traveller, and a dear friend to so many.

Roly worked as a nurse at the Minnedosa Hospital from 1981 to 2007. She was known for her professionalism and her empathy. She was committed to her work and continued her education on the job, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996. After retirement, she remained committed to the care of others as a palliative care volunteer.

Roly led a life of adventure. As a young recently-married mother-to-be, she and Richard moved to Brochet, an isolated northern community. A year there was followed by several years in Winnipeg. The next adventure was a life of farming, a move marked by a new community and precarious finances. And while the Basswood and Minnedosa area became their long-term home, her adventures continued to take her all over the world as a volunteer, a grandparent, or just plain fun-seeker.

Her final social engagements as the “Queen of the Family Lounge” from her extended family and friends are gifts to be treasured for years to come, including her final Terry Fox Run on September 20th, the 46th of her career.

Roly is survived by her husband Richard, her son Daniel (Donna) of Calgary and daughter Nathalie (Trevor McQuaid) of Basswood. And by her grandchildren Nicholas (Lauren Rock), Benjamin, Jacob, Briel, and Remy Lemoing.

She is predeceased by her brother David (Eveline) Ritchot and her brother-in-law Roger. She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Rachelle (Leland), Norbert (Suzanne), Marcel (Henriette), Madeleine (Ron), Denise (Roger - d.), Emile (Lucy) and Arthur (Janice).

She also leaves behind her brother-in-law Denis (Sylvie), her sisters-in-law Patricia (John) and Michèle (Gerry).

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent care she received at the Health Sciences Centre and The Minnedosa Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Minnedosa Community Conference Centre on Friday, November 6 at 2 pm. Those who would like to honour Roly's memory can make a donation to their preferred health care charity.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Mes sympathies à les familles Lemoing (Patricia, Richard, Michèle and Denis) and my distant distant Ritchot cousins. Mes parents Adrien et Béatrice (Champagne) Girouard lived down the street from Richard's parents (Louis & Antoinette) in Somerset. My father Adrien knew Rolande's parents James and Germaine, since his mother Marie-Anne Chartier was from Aubigny. Repose en paix la petite cousine. - Posted by: Richard Girouard (Former resident of Somerset, Manitoba.) on: Oct 03, 2026
