Myron Orest DUBICK passed away peacefully with family by his side on July 9, 2026, at the Windermere Care Centre in Vancouver, aged 96. Predeceased by his wife Sheila, father Dmytro, mother Anne, and sisters Amelia and Zenovia. Myron is survived by his son Keith (Helen) and daughter Tanya.
Myron was born in Winnipeg into a loving and supportive family. His childhood was also affected by the Great Depression that was triggered by the stock market crash within days of his birth. To help make ends meet he worked in his youth while attending school. One of his early jobs was delivering film equipment year-round on his bike, which he would sometimes reminisce about.
Myron met Sheila at the Winnipeg Canoe Club. They had a mutual interest in exploring nature through canoeing and camping trips. From this they went on to share 60 years of marriage. Their life together with two children was centered in Winnipeg and the family cottage at Victoria Beach, which Myron built with his father and family. It was his favorite place to be.
His lifelong hobby was nature photography. He found solace in nature and capturing the perfect shot that he could develop at home with his dark room equipment. He belonged to the Winnipeg and Vancouver Camera Clubs where he received recognition for his pictures.
Myron worked for the federal government, and retired at Environment Canada after 28 years of dedicated service. Soon thereafter, Myron and Sheila moved to Vancouver. The summer months brought them back to the cottage. Myron enjoyed reconnecting with his extended family during these visits. Myron and Sheila continued to take canoeing and camping trips across Canada and the US.
Myron was dedicated to his family and provided unwavering support for us throughout his life. He had a warm, calm and gentle personality. He possessed a remarkable level of inner strength, resilience, and patience. He was a pleasure to be with. His family will deeply miss him.
A memorial service will be held at Pacific Spirit United Church, 2195 West 45th Ave Vancouver, on October 17 at 1:30 pm.

Myron, John Buchanan and I would go on photography trips throughout Manitoba - Myron safely driving us everywhere. We’d stop at little restaurants in the area and have something to eat. I am so grateful to Myron (and John) for including me. We’d do a slide story presentation of Myron pretending to buy a new car (even involving a car dealership person) giving Myron a set of car keys to his ‘new’ car. We showed this slide story creation to the Manitoba Camera Club. Boy, we had SO much fun. In the story, unfortunately, Myron’s new car hit a big truck in front of us saying, Danger! Highly explosive! We had lots of laughs. Myron was a great person. I look forward in seeing him in the hereafter again ❤️. - Posted by: Caroline Hrechkosy (Friend) on: Oct 03, 2026
