KEVIN MACLURE
It is with our utmost surprise and sorrow to announce the passing of Kevin Alexander MacLure, aged 64, at his home on Sunday, September 27, 2026
Kevin MacLure was born in the Swan River Valley and grew up with his siblings Duncan, Donald, Murray, and Michele in the towns of Minitonas, Swan River, and especially at Wellman Lake in the Duck Mountain Provincial Park. His parents, Helen and Don MacLure, whom he loved dearly, maintained a cabin on the lake for his entire life, and it was ultimately the place he cherished most up until his passing.
A love of music, born in high school band, led him to be a part of Winnipeg’s well known and vibrant music scene. A drummer and percussionist, Kevin was a member of several local bands in his life, including but not limited to Parkas of Tomorrow, and Fungus Amongus. His musical ear was well trained and his vast vinyl collection proved his love of music. A basement jam session with friends and family, toddlers on the stairs listening to the cacophonous wails when they were too much for bed, were proof of the love he could capture with music.
A welder and expert in shipping for over forty years, in later life the only thing he loved more than fishing at Wellman Lake and maintaining his family cabin was sharing that love with his grandchildren. Never could he be seen happier than at a weekend family BBQ or a vacation to the Duck Mountains surrounded by friends and family, and that is how we will always remember him. Smiling, joyous, and looking forward to retirement.
Kevin is survived by his siblings Donald, Murray, and Michele. His children Donovan, Shannon and Taylor. His children in law, Jason and Sharon. As well as his grandchildren Emily and Jackson.
Services will be held at Friday, October 9, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street
Cards and flowers may be sent to 39 Bannerman Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R2W 0S9.
