JAMES (JIM) BRIAN KING

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Brian King on September 30, 2026.

Jim passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth (Lindley), his parents, Len and Claudia King; his brothers, Len (Kitty) King and Bob King.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss, his partner Sharon Bruce and her family, Colleen (Terry) Carswell, Mandy (Kevin, Kaylea and Ellie) Jacobson, Michael (Sarah) Carswell and brother Jimmy (Carolyn) Fedorowich; his sister Joan (Don) Merino as well as numerous extended family members and friends whom he loved dearly.

Jim had two main interests in life, working at C.N. and golfing for many years at Pine Ridge, in which he was a member. His proudest day in golf was his Hole in One. When he could no longer walk the golf course a new interest took its place and that was going to Loughlin, Wendover and South Beach for short holidays and gambling.

Words can’t express how thankful we are to the staff of St. Boniface, Grace and Concordia Hospitals for caring for him for the last seven months.

In Jim’s words he is thankful to the man upstairs for giving him 83 good years and would like to give special thanks to his cherished friend Sam.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel Transcona, 1800 Day Street on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

A private burial will take place.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send donations to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I met Jim at CN Express. I was a relatively new employee when I came to the Express and one of my early jobs was in the office. That's where I met Jim. He and I worked together and he helped me a great deal. Jim was a character and we had many laughs together. I also golfed and the subject came up at work a lot. Jim had a great memory and even though we didn't see each other a lot after CN, Jim never forgot me when we would bump into each other. He was a good man and he will be missed. R.I.P. my friend. - Posted by: Gary (Friend and co-worker at CN) on: Oct 07, 2026

  • I can remember my parents and I visiting him, as we traveled back to Manitoba during my summer holiday. He always made sure I had things to do. My last visit to Manitoba with a friend was also a great visit, as we remembered past time. Though we lost touch as the years went by, He will always be remembered with fondness. Love and miss him always. I hope he has found his brothers and they are having a game of golf together. - Posted by: Amber King (Niece) on: Oct 05, 2026
