Elly passed away peacefully at home with family on September 12, 2026 after a spiritual and virtuous life at 93 years of age.
He recently celebrated his 67th wedding anniversary of his marriage to Evelyn Wright (1959) in a love which has grown richer and deeper throughout the years. Elly’s passions included his family and many others, especially mentors, colleagues, "companions on the journey" and children. He had a particular affinity for regular folks, music and singing, reading and study, cottage life, nature in all its forms (birds, flowers, planting and tending), languages, and travel. He sought to live his days centered in gratitude and grounded in the Lord’s peace. He will be profoundly missed.

Memorial Service: 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the Canadian Memorial United Church & Centre for Peace. Sanctuary: 1806 West 15th Avenue, Vancouver, BC.
