Jackie passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert (Bob), her daughter Karen in Victoria, sons Todd (Vicky) in Edmonton, and Craig (Julie) in Winnipeg. Also surviving her are brother Lawrence (Norris), brother in law Don (Karen), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret, her brother Alex, and her son-in-law Ed Letain.
Active throughout her life, Jackie played softball for the West Kildonan Tigerettes, as well as participating in 5-pin bowling, curling, and lawn bowling, representing the province several times. She also played the bagpipes with the Heather Belles Ladies Pipe Band. Jackie loved the outdoors and with Bob could also be found out camping, fishing, or just exploring western Canada.
In her later years Jackie had to cope with dementia, however she never lost her interest in sports, bagpipes, or family gatherings. With family around her she could still be relied on to remember the good times.
The family were together through it all at Seine River and Concordia Hospital and we wish to express our sincere appreciation for all the care and support from the fine people at both who kept Jackie and the family as comfortable as possible.
Jackie has donated her body to the Max Rady College of Medicine. At her request, no service will be held.

So sorry to hear of Jackie’s passing. I knew her as one of the original Heather-Belle members, thanks to her and the other “originals”, many young girls had a band to play in from 1961-early 2000s. My condolences to Bob and her family. ❤️ - Posted by: Heather Purvis (Piper - Heather Belle Ladies Pipeband) on: Oct 10, 2026
