It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Julia Batista on September 15, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born in Mata, Portugal, Julia lived a life marked by faith, resilience, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family. She immigrated first to Brazil and later to Canada, where she and her husband built a loving home and raised their family.
Julia is survived by her beloved husband, Julio Batista. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Armando (Helen), Maria (Mario), and Tony (Kerry Ann); her grandchildren, Alex (Corrine), Nicole (Taylor), Ryan, Devin (Jennifer), Bailey (Steven), and Madi (Ethan); her great-grandchildren, Henry, Benjamin, and Charlotte; as well as extended family and many friends.
Julia will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, generosity, sense of humour, and the warmth she extended to everyone who entered her home. She cherished time with family, enjoyed sharing stories of her life in Portugal, and took immense pride in creating a welcoming home filled with love.
Her legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly and the values she passed on to future generations.
The family would like to thank Julia's treatment team at Lions Manor. The special attention to Julia's needs by all her healthcare aides and nurses enabled Julia to have a dignified life to the end.
Private family service has taken place.
