JOHN (JACK) POSTLEWAITE
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John “Jack” Postlewaite of Calgary, AB, who passed peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 89.
Jack is survived by his wife Odette; his children, Scott (Stella Marin), Michelle, and Cynthia (Len Kiez); his grandchildren, Eric, Madelyn, Jonathan, and Emma; his great-grandson Hendrix; his sister Zela (Danny) Scrutton; and honorary family member Lorraine Donnelly. He was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Zela, and his brother Dale.
Born on April 2, 1937, on a golf course in Regina, Jack carried a lifelong love of golf. He grew up in Winnipeg, served proudly as a cadet and then with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders - maintaining a deep passion for all things military.
Jack spent his career in sales and convinced his high school sweetheart, Odette Magne, to marry him in 1958. They shared 68 years of love, family, laughter, and travel. In 1980, Jack and his family moved to Calgary, where he happily spent the next 45 years.
Known as the original “funcle,” Jack was adored for his humour, storytelling, and ability to make friends everywhere he went. He could fix anything with WD 40, duct tape, and determination, and later in life enjoyed mornings on his laptop playing the stock market.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jack will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and unwavering support. At his request, there will be no funeral or service. Please raise a glass in his honour.

I remember Jack and Odette from when I was a young girl! I’m 69 now. I recall their visits to our home in Garden City to see my parents, Len and Lorraine Beckwith. I’m sure if my parents were still alive, they would be extending their condolences to you. I’m sorry Odette and family, to read of your loss of Jack. You have my sympathy, to you all. Sending our love & condolences to Odette, Scott, Michelle, Cindy & families. Beginning in 1972 when the Postlewaite family moved to Southdale, their home always had an open door, love, laughter, great food and a party or two. For those of us who were fortunate enough to be part of their lives, Jack left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered with his big personality, warmth & genuine caring about every friend that came into their home. Claude and I are so grateful to have seen Jack & Odette earlier this year, you will be missed xo - Posted by: Leslie Flynn-Lambert (Friend of Michelle & family) on: Oct 10, 2026
