MONIQUE JANICE MARIE THERIEN

January 12, 1961 - September 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Monique Therien on Sunday September 20, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer.

Monique was predeceased by her father Raymond Therien, her uncle Raymond Naharnie and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Elizabeth, sisters Michele (Andre), Nicolle (Fred), niece Jessica (Brett), nephew Ernest (Yvette), great-nieces and nephews Destinee (Hyde), Ethan, Sophie, Parker, Uncle Andy (Dianna), cousins Darren, Cory, Mike, Chris and Mhaiya.

Monique was born in Winnipeg, growing up in Charleswood. She found her love of travel at an early age, travelling across Canada and the United States with her family. As the years passed, she took a Caribbean cruise, warm winter vacations and visited over 40 countries around the world with her favorite being Egypt and making new friends everywhere she went.

Her loves didn't end with travelling, she also enjoyed reading, knitting, music, tap dancing and cross stitching.

Monique will be remembered by all as a kind, caring and generous person. She was always ready to talk, listen, offer advice and help with whatever you needed.

We would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital 5th floor units 4 and 7 for their kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A private family interment is to be held, and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

  • Sincere condolences Monique's family. She often spoke of you with warmth and smiles. Monique danced with a group of four of us for many years. During that time, she offered to set up spread sheet for my entire studio to keep my books organized. For one of our recitals, she convinced her small niece to loan us her electric car so it could be driven on stage remotely for our "Greased Lightening" dance. As well, she fixed my printer many times when I couldn't. She would often stay to chat after class and share her travel experiences. She was truly a kind and talented woman and generous in her friendship. - Posted by: Rae Magnusson (Friend and fellow tap dancer) on: Oct 10, 2026
