It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. James Forest on October 2, 2026, at the age of 82. James was predeceased by his wife, Diana, in 2013.
He is survived by his uncle, Robert Forest; his aunt, Annette Parsons, and her husband, Tom Parsons; his aunt, Gail Proulx; and other family members.
James was a professor of psychology at the University of Manitoba, where he shared his knowledge with students and fellow faculty members.
He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and former students. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

My interactions with Jim were exclusive to his role in the department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba. I was both an undergraduate and graduate student in Jim's department and though I didn't work directly with him, I had many experiences with Jim discussing a wide array of topics including matters directly related to my studies. Jim was always a delight to talk with and I appreciated the manner in which he went about his work. I always came away from any meeting or discussion with Jim feeling respected, heard, and renewed.
