DWAYNE DOUGLAS DUNCOMBE

December 14, 1957 - September 28, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dwayne Douglas Duncombe, after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Left to mourn, his wife and partner of 37 years, Verna; their son, Dallas (Chloe) and daughter, Samantha (Michael); brothers, Bob (Tanya) and Darwin (Agnes) and many loving nieces and nephews. Dwayne was predeceased by his parents Norma Duncombe (nee Pringle) and Doug Duncombe.

Dwayne attended school in Carnduff, Saskatchewan. Growing up in a small town with ties to both agriculture and the energy industry, Dwayne learned many skills and developed lifelong friendships. He spoke fondly of working with his father both on their family grain farm and later jobs in the town where his father became both the Constable and Town Foreman. It was there that he developed a strong work ethic while also spending time with family, friends and the understanding of a work/play balance.

Dwayne trained as an electrician and while the skills he learned were valuable, his love for natural mediums led him to a career in the aggregates industry. He went west, as many of his friends did, and worked in Alberta, but eventually ended up in Manitoba where he met his wife, Verna and raised his family, putting down new roots. After some twenty plus years working in aggregates, Dwayne put all the skills he had learned into running his own handy man business - it was here that he really shone. Dwayne loved working around the neighborhood. Being his own boss allowed him to spend the time to develop great working relationships and many good friends.

Outside of his profession, Dwayne strived to always make time for family and friends. He was passionate about his children's sports - sometimes, a little too passionate, but always supportive of them and their friends. He was equally instrumental in keeping in touch with his friends, helping to organize houseboat trips, which became an every 5 year adventure. A love for active travel was born out of that and numerous bike trips abroad became the norm. A very physically active life was paramount in the family - their home, cottage and extended family farm kept the family out of the city most weekends (save of course during those hockey years!). Dwayne enjoyed taking in wood to fuel the stoves and fireplaces - a total of 7 in all - over the winter months - he loved nothing more than to sit in front of the fire and relax after a full day outside. He was also passionate about the lake, spending a great deal of his later years working on projects to create an oasis for both family and friends to enjoy. He always held a special place in his heart for his hometown and large extended family and loved to take road trips to enjoy their company.

In keeping with Dwayne's wishes, and evidencing his strong ties to his childhood home, there will be a Celebration of Life held in Saskatchewan at the Carnduff Legion, 112 - 4th Street W. on Saturday, October 17 commencing at 1:00 p.m.

There will be a 2nd Celebration of Life held in Winnipeg, Manitoba at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue on Friday, October 23 commencing at 2:30 p.m.
