PETER (TOM) THOMAS MEUCKON

Peter (Tom) Thomas Meuckon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Beausejour Hospital, surrounded by family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Carol; his son Cameron (Laura); granddaughter Charlotte and grandson Jack. Tom also leaves his brother Ken; sisters, Marion, Cheryl and Jan, their families and many long-time friends.

Tom was a life-long resident of Beausejour who loved his hometown and built a wonderful life there. After high school, Tom began working for his father’s sand and gravel hauling business as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. Following this, Tom worked briefly as a lab assistant at the Pinawa nuclear plant, but his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own paving and landscaping business soon after. In 1976, Tom downsized his business to a part-time operation and began his 28-year career as a night shift carman and crane operator with CNR railway. Tom developed many close friendships with his shift mates over the years and maintained those relationships long after his retirement in 2004.

Tom was a talented man who loved to build and work with his hands. As an artist he enjoyed pen and ink sketches, wood carving and metal works. From doodling caricatures in the corners of the newspaper to large, framed portraits hung in his family’s home, he loved to create. Tom was a master of many trades. From car restorations and repairs to home renovations to a custom houseboat built over 6 years, he always had a project on the go. Tom was a loyal garage and auction sale enthusiast, always on the hunt for a deal. Dad loved his steaks extra well-done, pan-fried walleye, his salad dressing on the side and lemon pie. He slept through the original big screen premiere of Star Wars and every sci-fi movie since. He introduced his son Cam to hunting and fishing at an early age, sharing a lifetime of wilderness adventures together.

Becoming a grandparent came naturally to Tom. He was there for Charlotte’s first steps and Jacks first catch. He was their friend and mentor, giving them countless laughs and memories that will be cherished forever.

Tom and Carol were married for nearly 62 years and have known each other for 65. They shared a love and life together few of us get to experience. She will miss him always.

Dad, you will always be our Hero.
