  • I knew Ian as the "Commander" as he had a Chieftain tank tattoo on his shoulder. He was a very kind and generous with his advice. Years passed and when our paths would cross we would provide a proper British Army salute. Later I would work closely with his wife, Shannon who can only be described as impressive. I was invited out to their acreage and was given some of their free range eggs. The Commander showed off his mancave in the garage. I can not recall him not grinning. We should all be so lucky. My last salute Commander, I will miss you. - Posted by: Tim Diack (co-worker) on: Oct 13, 2026

  • Never had the pleasure of working with Ian but knew him as a fellow officer. The world lost a gentleman and good guy. Rest in peace Ian .. - Posted by: Paul Johnson (Co worker) on: Oct 13, 2026

  • I had the good fortune to work with Ian in the old division 24. We used to say during interview that he was on loan from Scotland Yard. He was an excellent interviewer and smooth as silk. We actually solved an international case where a local criminal had figured out a way to make a key for the parking meter heads to remove the cash. Ian dealt with the company that manufactured the keys, which were to be fool proof and convinced them that their locks were not invincible. I always introduced Ian during interviews as the “Cracker” as he laid down a pair of vice grips on the interview room table. This seemed to get the attention of the criminal element and made them more agreeable to chat. He was a good friend and family man. My condolences to Shannon and Bree - Posted by: Loren (Co-worker.) on: Oct 10, 2026
