GERALD ERWIN OTTO
After battling persistent health issues, even though Dad was a true fighter, his last battle couldn’t be won. It is with resigned sadness that we announce he has gone to be at rest in the arms of his loving Saviour.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Warren, Janice and Trevor; grandchildren, Tanner (Laurie), Bretton (Alex), Mia, (Savana), Taylor and Ashleigh; great- grandchildren, Riley, Cael, Atley, and Jamie; brothers, Gordon (Joan), Ernie (Leona), Art and Lorne; sisters, Esther Kurbis and Linda Kuehn; brother-in-law Bill Black; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ella (2024); daughter-in-law Cindy; brothers, Clarence and Vernon; sister, Margaret Black.
The family would like to thank the team of nurses and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital Dialysis Unit. Without your expertise and care, we would not have had the last 14 months to create more memories with Dad. We would also like to thank Dr. David Breckman for the many years of wonderful care and understanding you provided to Dad. We are so grateful to the many home care workers who were part of Dad’s life in recent years. Your support, kindness and professionalism allowed Dad to remain in his own home until his last trip to the hospital.
A memorial service in honour of Dad’s life will take place at Saint James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Drive, on October 22 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully request donations in Dad’s honour to Saint James Lutheran Church Memorial Fund (871 Cavalier Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R2Y 1C7) or St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (for the Dialysis Unit) http://www.stbhf.ca/, 204- 237-2067

I am saddened with the news....I met Gerry through work. Gerry's career involved representing our employees. I was a management representative. Over many years I had reason to met with Gerry and resolve employment issues. Gerry was an honourable person whose word could be trusted. Memories that will always remain with me was Gerry's warm smile, calm mannerism and sharp-looking business dress. Although work and then the years have drifted us apart, I will always remember Gerry as a true gentleman. I would like to share these thoughts and extend my condolences to Gerry's family.
