It is with deep sadness that the family of Keith Brown, announces his peaceful passing at home on October 12, 2026. In the time before his passing, Keith was fortunate to spend many meaningful moments visiting his family, including his grandchildren.
Keith grew up in Snowflake, Manitoba, where he developed an early love of sports, particularly baseball. A talented outfielder, he was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in June 2006, an achievement that reflected his longstanding connection to the game.
Keith began his working life as a heavy-duty mechanic. Throughout his career, he continued to challenge himself and pursue new opportunities. He spent the final 13 years of his career with the Winnipeg Fire Department and took tremendous pride in being part of the organization.
Keith married his beloved wife Clara, in 1960. Together, they raised their family and built a life filled with camping trips, treasured years at their cottage at Albert Beach and dancing with the Teulon Seniors Club while making many lasting friendships during their 61 years of marriage.
After retirement, golf became Keith’s summer passion. For 25 years, he played with the Manitoba Senior’s Golf Association. He also enjoyed woodworking and generously shared his talents with others, creating many beautifully crafted wooden pieces that will continue to be treasured.
Keith never lost his sense of adventure. In recent years, his travels included an Alaskan cruise, a trip to Churchill to see the polar bears, and golfing in the mountains with his grandchildren. Above all, Keith shared that his greatest joys came from spending time with his family and celebrating holidays and special occasions together.
Following Clara’s passing, Keith moved to Linden Point, where he formed close friendships and enjoyed playing pool, darts and cards, as well as taking part in various outings. The family is deeply grateful to the staff for the compassion, kindness and care they gave Keith.
Keith is lovingly remembered by his son, Wayne Brown (Sherry); grandchildren, Matthew and Megan; son Andrew (Charlene Laderoute); brothers, Elwyn, Don (Carol) and Doug (Donna); sisters, Elaine Schlivinsky and Ardith (Mac) Davidson; brother-in-law, Howard Rowley; and other extended family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Clara; his parents, Bill and Elsie Brown; brother Gordon; brother-in-law Steve Schlivinsky; sister-in-law Georgina and Lorraine and Merton Lane.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff with the thoracic team at Health Sciences Centre as well as CancerCare.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Keith’s life at a funeral service on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
In keeping with Keith’s wishes, those wishing to honour his memory may make a donation to the Firefighters Burn Fund in lieu of flowers.
