Gordon Bennett passed away on October 15, 2026, at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 81. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by Valerie, Mark, Kerri (Andrew), Morgan, Carli, Spencer, Tyra and Reece, his extended family and all the friends he made along the way.
Gordon was born October 7, 1945, in Winnipeg to Robert and Helen Bennett (née Parkes). He grew up in Winnipeg with siblings, Bev, Wayne and Darlene and often spoke of the wonderful childhood memories they made. He married his life partner, Valerie McNiven on June 19, 1971, in Winnipeg. The couple resided in Altona, MB for 45 years where they raised their two children, Mark and Kerri. Gordon worked as a press operator and devoted significant amounts of time to the community. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and especially loved golf.
Gordon loved life and could make and find fun in everyday moments. His sense of humour filled our lives with laughter and his love filled our hearts with warmth. His passion, determination and generosity will live in our hearts forever.
Our sincerest gratitude goes to our Mom. She provided unconditional love and support and walked each step with Dad as he fought hard against the cancer. We would like to thank his doctors, community palliative health team and Riverview Health Centre for the exceptional care and support they provided to our Dad.
A private family celebration of life will be held in his honour.
