MAURICE FERNAND LABELLE

May 6, 1953 - October 10, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Maurice Labelle, a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Maurice was born in 1953 to Aline and Denis Labelle. He grew up with his siblings, Paul, Anna, Marie, and Francois. He spent his early years learning hard work and passion for farm life on Red River Drive. As he grew older, his priorities changed, but the love for farming was with him forever.

Dad met his forever partner and wife, Diane, they wed in 1980. Over their 46 years of marriage, they built a home and life in St. Norbert. They welcomed three children, Daniel, Jereme, and Nicole.

Maurice spent his years working in a few places, all involving numbers and spreadsheets, from the Consistory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the University of Winnipeg - Director of Budgets, finally retiring in 2023.

There was much more to Dad, from his early years of collecting hockey cards and being Patrick Roy’s #1 fan, fishing at the lake, driving his buggy and classic cars. In the later years, Dad’s hobbies changed to cruising in his Challenger, building far too many remote-control cars and puzzles. Dad always had NFL games on, cheering for his favourite

teams. The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost one of their greatest fans. It took 65 years, but in 2018 Dad finally lived his dream and saw his team play at Heinz Field. A love for football.

He is survived by his partner Diane; children, Daniel (Candace), Jereme, Nicole (Robert) and granddaughter Raelynn; his sister Marie Eickenberg (Peter); sisters-in-law, Janice Deremiens, Sherry Kippen (Darryl), and Doreen Cote; and brother-in-law Raymond (Lori) Cote; along with nieces and nephews, Tiffany Eickenberg (Stephanie) and Nicholas and Kristopher Cote.

Maurice was preceded in passing by his parents, Aline and Denise Labelle; brothers, Paul and Francois; and sister Anna Labelle; along with mother and father-in-law, Maria and Adelard Cote, brothers-in-law, Mike Bartmanovich and Darren Kippen.

A funeral service will be held on November 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. In accordance with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and instead of flowers, please donate to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
