Ludwika was born in Tarnowica Polna, Poland, and after the war, resettled in the Dzierzoniow area, where she farmed alongside her husband, Jozef.
In 1962, the family immigrated to Canada. Mom and Dad worked very hard to provide for their six children and build a life for their family. Mom worked for many years as a cleaner at the Royal Bank main branch on Portage Avenue. She eventually joined Simmons Canada, where she sewed Beauty Rest mattress covers on a commercial sewing machine and was paid for each piece she produced. She excelled at her work and received an award recognizing her as the first pieceworker in Canada to achieve this level of excellence in both quality and speed.
Her passion for cooking and baking goes synonymous with perogies, cabbage rolls, egg rolls and baking. Her love for her family was through baking and cooking; she didn't have to say I love you - we just felt her love.
Mom spent the last years of her life in St. Albert, Alberta, with her daughter Judi, where she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ludwika will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters, Maria (Henry) and Judi; her sons, Chester (Anne), Ed, and Anthony (Carolynn); her grandchildren, Diane (Martin), Mark (Nicole), Alanna (Brian), Jennifer (Craig), Joseph, Nico, Kolby (Courtney); and her great-grandchildren, Emily, Clara, Alexander, Avery, Kaspian, Jett, Stephano, Sophia, and Sonny. She is also survived by her brother, Marian (Val) Hajdasz.
Chester, Ed, Anthony, Mark, Joseph and Nico will serve as pallbearers.
The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street, West St. Paul.
