THOMAS (TOM) ELLISON
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tom" Ellison in Saanichton, BC, age 84.
Born in West Hartlepool, England, Tom studied agriculture in Scotland before marrying Mary in 1963. In 1966, Tom and his young family immigrated to Canada, settling in Manitoba, where they operated a beef and grain farm in East Selkirk.
Tom went on to enjoy a varied career, including many years in agricultural media and, later, technology sales. Throughout his life, he was guided by curiosity, determination, and a love of learning.
Tom had a remarkable range of interests. He was an avid sailor, boat enthusiast, small aircraft pilot, traveller, gardener, and student of history and politics. He remained curious about the world throughout his life and always enjoyed a good conversation.
Tom is survived by his children, Patricia, Carol, Fiona, Thomas, John, and Andrew; his grandchildren, Jack, Seth, Joshua, Jannell, Laura, Matthew, Benjamin, Theodore and Aiden; and his siblings, Joyce, Susan, and Malcolm.
Tom will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, sharp mind, persistence, and lifelong curiosity. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Saanich Peninsula Hospital are greatly appreciated.
