LILLIAN BURKE

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Burke on September 28, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Winnipeg, Lil attended St. John's High School before studying Home Economics at the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1948 as a Dietician.

She married and had 62 years with her husband, friend and golf partner Benge. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lil had a large social circle, and loved to attend get-togethers. Lil and Benge were phenomenal dancers, and took every opportunity to take to the floor together. For their family, getting the chance to share a dance with them was always a treat.

Later in life, Lil developed a love for Mahjong and Pan. While she enjoyed cycling, her true passion was walking. She would walk for hours each day, often going impressively long distances. Lil loved to travel. She looked forward to visiting with her extended family, and made an effort to attend as many family functions as she was able. Her favourite destination was, however, her condo in North Palm Beach. She loved spending time there - the only thing she hated more than cats and dogs was the cold. She and Benge spent winters there for over 30 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Bessie and Sam Bloomfield, sister Tammy Purkin, brother Coleman Bloomfield, and son-in-law Clifford Levi.

She will be missed by her daughter Carol, son Brian (Lisa), grandchildren, Kim, Jeremy (Grace), Danielle (Tyler), Ivan, Eric (Rachelle), and great-grandchildren, Sebastien, Zachary, and Mathis.

We are truly grateful for the exceptional care Lil received at the Simkin Centre on Weinberg 3. The kindness and respect shown to her, and the support given to our family, will always be remembered and appreciated.

Mom, Lil, Soffa, Auntie Lil, Cousin Lil. Thank you for your love. We love you

and you will be missed.
