STEPHEN JOHN SLACK March 27, 1948 - December 9, 2004 Surrounded by the love of his family, Steve passed away peacefully into the waiting arms of his mother, on December 9, 2004. Steve is survived by his wife Janis; son Peter; daughter Kyla and granddaughter Nikole; father John Slack; sisters, Vivienne Nelson (Cliff), Moneca Daniel and brother Michael Slack (Eva). He is also survived by his cousin Shirley Ladd and husband Art, and by many other relatives and friends in Canada and England. He was predeceased by his mother Joyce in 1999. Steve was born in England and came to Canada with his family in 1958. He grew up in British Columbia, eventually moving east and settled in Winnipeg, marrying and raising his family. Twelve years ago Steve found the job he truly loved. He became a T.A. at St. John's High School and greatly cherished his work with the students and the enduring friendships he formed with many of the staff. The family would like to express gratitude to the many people for all the care and compassion shown to Steve during his illness, especially Corinne Poirier, Mary Ashcroft, and to the team of 3E, Riverview Health Center. Cremation has taken place place. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at Riverview Health Center, 1 Morley Ave., on Friday, December 17 at 10:00 a.m. While we will miss Steve more than words can say, we take comfort in the fact that through his gift to Tissue Bank Manitoba his legacy will live on. Flowers are gratefully declined.
