DR. STEPHAN HRENCHYSHYN It is with deep sorrow the family announces the sudden death of Dr. Stephan Hrenchyshyn on June 28, 1999 at Unity Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife Myra; daughter Taissa Lada; sister Hanna Panchyshyn; and nieces and nephews in Ukraine; cousin Dr. Dmytro Shtohryn and family; Aunt Maria Figol in the United States; in Winnipeg, sister-in-law Vera Marchuk; cousins, Ollie Hawryluk (nee Ewashkiw), Steffie Glowacki (nee Ewashkiw), Helen (nee Ewashkiw and Victor Kominowski, Wally Syvolos and family. Stephan was born in Zwyniach, Ukraine, and later studied veterinary science at the University of Gischen, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 where he continued studying at the University of Minnesota while working for Dr. Feist. In 1957, Stephan graduated as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. At first he worked for the Government but eventually went into private small animal practice. In 1974 he built the Blaine Animal Hospital where he practiced till his retirement in 1992. Stephan enjoyed music, reading and sports and played soccer during his student years. He also volunteered his time to the County Humane Society. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service was held July 5 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota. A memorial mass will be held at Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. Vladimir and Olga on August 7 at 9:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael Kouts officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children of Chornobyl Canadian Fund, care of Ukrainian Canadian Committee Headquarters, 456 Main St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 1B6 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
