Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER THOMAS (TOM) LETANDRE March 13, 1909 - September 7, 1999 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather on Tuesday, September 7, 1999 at E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, Manitoba, with his family at his side. Tom was born and raised at Fairford, where he met and married Elsie Hourie on May 4, 1933 and together they raised their large family. He also raised some of his grandchildren who were very special to him; granddaughters, Myrna, Lavina and Ashley, and grandsons, Sidney, John and Julian. Tom was a hard working man who fished and trapped for most of his life. He was also a farmer until his retirement. In his earlier years, Tom enjoyed playing baseball, and especially enjoyed watching the World Series. For the last four years of his life, Tom resided at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home. Tom leaves to mourn his beloved wife Elsie Letandre; four daughters, Myrtle (Ed) Anderson, Joyce (John) Martin, Dora (Edward) Sumner, Beverly (Riley) Anderson, and two sons, Sidney and Gerald; 39 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren and ten great great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Gladys Moar, Isabella Anderson, and Irene Letandre; one brother-in-law Henry G. Anderson, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, five sisters, three grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, also daughters, Mary Jane (in infancy), Ethel, Ruth, Marilyn and one son Leonard. A wake service will be held at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, Manitoba on Thursday, September 9 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fairford House of Prayer with Pastor Wilfred Bruce officiating. Interment to follow at St. Helens Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Randy Desjarlais, Sidney John Letandre, Leonard Martin, Barry Anderson, Clifford Sumner, and Dwain Anderson. Crossbearer will be Julian Letandre. Honorary pallbearers will be Myrna Letandre, Ashley Letandre, Patty Sinclair, Elaine Cormier, Kathy Anderson and Marcia Martin. Special heartfelt thanks to doctors and staff at E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, and also to nurses and staff at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home for the care given to our dad. Also special thanks to the Fairford Chief and Council. Dad, we saw you getting tired, And could not wish for you to stay; Dad, we know that your work here is done, and that you were called home to be with our Lord; Dad, you will be sadly missed by everyone who knew you, and loved you.
