ROBERT (BOB) TRACEY MONTGOMERY
Born: Sep 04, 1939
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) TRACEY MONTGOMERY Bob was born on September 4, 1939 in Minnedosa, MB. He attended school at Franklin, MB. On August 10, 1963 Bob married Ginger Yarych, who at that time taught school at Norway House and he was the assistant manager of the Hudson Bay Company. He is predeceased by his father Alex and his step-father Sven Anderson. Bob leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 36 years, Ginger; his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kamela, and the joy of his life, his grandson Dorian; his mother Marge; sisters, Margaret (Charlie), Debbie (Steve), Sandra; brothers, Reg (Shirley), Stan, Bruce (Irene) as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob started working for the Hudson Bay Company at the age of 16 in Bird, Manitoba. Feeling a need for a change, he moved to work at the Thompson Nickel mines for two years. Later he resumed his career with the Hudson Bay Company serving as post manager in several Northern Manitoba communities, the Arctic and Northern Ontario. After working for the Bay for 17 years, Bob decided to start his own business, having general stores at Shoal Lake, ON, North Spirit Lake, ON and Poplar Hill, ON. Having shown interest in the restaurant business, he discontinued his line of stores and purchased the Dairy Queen in Portage la Prairie. He owned and operated the Dairy Queen for six years. Leaving the Dairy Queen he purchased the Salad Bar restaurant in Winnipeg and still operated it at the time of his passing. Bob was a man of many interests. Having owned his own airplane, Bob loved to fly to his stores in the North, enjoying the beautiful scenery. He tried his hand at picking wild rice, was an avid moose hunter and helped his wife Ginger with the gardening. Bob will be missed by all who knew him. He accepted each individual for who they were. His wit and humour along with his sincerity and kindness will remain with us forever. Im Free Dont grieve for me, for now Im free. Im following the path that God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned by back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh and love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found the place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with, remembering the joy, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My lifes been full, I savoured much. Good friends, good times, A loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free. Funeral service for Bob will be held on Friday, September 10, at 2:00 p.m. from Sparrow Funeral Chapel, Minnedosa with Rev. Tom Delgaty officiating. Viewing will be prior to the service. Pallbearers will be his son Michael, brother-in-law Alex Michalchuk, brothers, Reg, Stan and Bruce and adopted son Terry Shurvell. Interment will follow in the Minnedosa Cemetery.
