GERHARD GEORGE KLASSEN December 14, 1931 - September 7, 1999 Suddenly on Tuesday, September 7, 1999, George Klassen passed away at his residence at the age of 67. George was predeceased by his first wife Betty in June of 1987 and is now survived by his wife Helen; three sons, George, Derrick (Angie), Scott (Karen) and daughter Beth (Jamie) nine grandchildren, Jason, Darren, Brooke, Derrick, Brenden, Kolby, Chris, Nichole and Grant. George was born in Lowe Farm, MB and spent most of his life in Winnipeg. Over the years George often held two jobs to maintain a lifestyle for his family that many unfortunately never obtain. He retired from Winnipeg Transit in 1987 where he served as a bus operator for 20 years and a service checker for 7 years. After retiring from Winnipeg Transit he worked part time security at Grant Park Mall for 9 years resigning in 1998. When George wasnt building one of his projects or playing crib in his spare time he was making people laugh with his wonderful sense of humour. Georges family would like to thank the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency staff, the attending paramedics and Winnipeg Fire Department. A funeral service to celebrate Georges life will take place Saturday, September 11 at 12:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in Garry Memorial Park.
