EMILY YAPPS Peacefully with family at her side, Emily passed away on September 8, 1999 at West Park Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 97 years. Emily will be sadly missed and always loved by her son Edward (Lorraine) Bady of Victoria, B.C.; her daughters, Doris (Norman) Dawes of Keewatin, Ont. and Lorraine (Dieter) Wagner; her grandchildren, Brant Bady, Murray Bady (Heather), Brian Bellemare, Brenda (Bob) Stewart, Darren Zak (Brenda), Colin Zak (Dori) and Sandra (Brent) Burling. Also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her firstborn son William (1920) first husband Karl Bady (1946) second husband Julius Yapps (1966) son-in-law Joseph Zak (1986) her sisters, Tillie Pubanz and Lydia Schlivinsky. Emilys parents, Christoph and Louisa Derwantz emigrated from Germany in 1910 with their three daughters to become pioneers in the River Hills area. Upon her marriage to Karl Bady they lived and raised their family in Seven Sisters Falls till 1945 when they moved to Winnipeg and she lived her remaining years in the West End. She has been a resident of West Park Manor since 1986. Emily had an unwavering faith in God and was a faithful servant throughout her life. She always worked diligently to endure and rise above the many hardships in her life. She was a very creative and resourceful person, a beautiful seamstress, great cook and gardener, and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She loved her family passionately and always put everyones needs before her own. She was justly rewarded during her 13 years at West Park Manor by a most loving and caring staff who marvelled at her independence and spunky personality as she wheeled her chair through the halls right to the end. The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff of West Park Manor for their special care and all the hugs she so thrived on. We especially want to thank Lynn Huggins, her very special friend and caregiver for all her love and companionship. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 10 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey St. with Chaplain Ken Perry officiating. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Viewing will take place prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to West Park Manor Personal Care Home, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3R 1X2. Her memory will remain in our hearts always.
