Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIDNEY NORMAN GILBERT Passed away, unexpectedly, at his home in Guelph, Ontario, on Wednesday, September 8, 1999. Beloved husband of Beverly (Mann). He will be missed and remembered by his son Geoff and daughter Andrea. Dear cousin of Gary and wife Marilou and Vic Leggero and nephew of Vic and Mary Leggero, all of Winnipeg. Sid will be sadly missed by his extended Mann family in Winnipeg. Born in Winnipeg on September 25, 1943, he received a B.Comm. and C.A. from Manitoba and graduated from Carleton University with a M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology. As a professor in sociology at the University of Guelph, he valued education highly and had a distinguished career as a leading Canadian educational researcher. His intellectual curiosity and love of spirited discussion will be greatly missed by his family and colleagues. A funeral service, to celebrate Sids life, will be held at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church, 210 Silvercreek Pkwy. N., Guelph, Saturday, September 11, at 3:30 p.m. Cremation to follow. (There will be no visitation prior to the service). Memorial contributions to the Sidney Gilbert Memorial Scholarship, University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, N1G 2W1, would be appreciated by the family.
