Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryYOLANA BEDNAR (BARTEK) 1923 - 1999 With great sorrow we announce the passing of Yolana Bednar, after a lengthy illness, on Friday, September 10, 1999 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Yolana was predeceased by her son Eddy Jr. in infancy. She will be missed and deeply mourned by her husband Edward; son Arthur; daughter Nancy and Ken Loepp of Winnipeg; son Brian and Leaha Bednar of Calgary; grandchildren, Carla and Dan Preston, Douglas and Sophie Loepp, Chase and Jennifer; great-grandson Saylor and Mason; brother Frank and Jean Bartek of Vancouver. With her parents and brother, Yolana left Czechoslavakia in 1937 and immigrated to Canada, where they resided in Brunkild, Manitoba. She married Edward in 1944. She was active her whole life raising their children and working side by side with Edward in their business. She loved baking and spending time with her family and friends, who enjoyed her extraordinary strudel among other delicacies. Yolana also had a passion for travel. The family is grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, as well as the homecare workers, for their kind care. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church (the corner of Munroe and Brazier) at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14. Interment and reception will follow at Glen Eden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 and/or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9.
