LIONEL ROBERT HOWARD McLAREN (MAC) On September 11, 1999, after a courageous battle, Dad, at the age of 80, has gone to be with Mom. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, on May 26, 1999. Dad is survived by his daughters, Pat (Ron) Linstedt, Penny Rossiter (Dave Rosentreter), Pam (Brian) Leclair and his son Bob; grandchildren, Kim, Kendra, Kent, Shannon, Cory, Jay, Jim, Joey, Rob, Jenn, Stephen, Lauren and Gina; great grandchildren, Jesse, Tyler, R.J., Nikki, Patience, Zachary and Sarah. He also leaves to mourn, his sister Laele (Dick) Carruthers, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad retired from Canada Post in 1979 after 26 years of service. He also served with the Royal Canadian Service Corp. during the Second World War, and was a member of Legion #164 in Lac Du Bonnet. The family gratefully acknowledges the care, kindness and compassion shown to our father by Dr. Braun, 3rd floor Geriatric nursing staff and nurses of the 5th floor units 2 and 5 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will also be held in the Lac Du Bonnet Legion Hall on Tuesday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away Our hearts were almost broken You fought so hard to stay. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be So he closed his arms around you And whispered "Come to Me." When we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain We could not wish you back To suffer that again. So treasure him Lord, In your Garden of Rest For here on Earth, he was the very best.
