WANDA HINZ (nee BERG) Peacefully, at the age of 92, Wanda Hinz passed away on September 13, 1999, after a lengthy illness. She was born on October 16, 1906 in Poland. During the war, they moved to Germany and in 1950 immigrated to Canada. She was predeceased by her husband Theophil in 1980. She will be missed and deeply mourned by her daughter Elsie and Jake Unger of Winnipeg; three granddaughters, Lorna and Karla, both of Ottawa, and Marion and Carl Classen and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Meghan and Joel of Elm Creek, MB. She is survived by a special niece Nati and Kurt Ruppenstein and family; many sisters-in-law and their families in Canada and Germany, and other close and dear relatives and friends. Oma was a very generous and kindhearted person, always ready to help. She really enjoyed gardening at her granddaughters farm. She spent many enjoyable summers with her family and friends at the cottage at Twin Beaches. She was very involved with the ladies group and Golden Age at the Church of the Cross. The family would like to thank the staff at Luther Home who cared for her during her final six years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Cross, Arlington and Ellice. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing prior to the service. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Luther Home, 1081 Andrews Street, Winnipeg, MB R2V 2G9 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
