Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTELLA SEYCHUK It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a mother, grandmother, and friend. Stella passed away at age 83 on Thursday, August 5, 1999 at Jocelyn House. Stella was the beloved wife of Michael Seychuk for 60 years. She will be dearly missed by her son Bob and his wife Vera, grandsons, Allan and Andy; her sisters, Isabel, Sylvia and Theresa with their families, as well as the many relatives in her extended family. Stella will also be fondly remembered by her many friends, co-workers, and colleagues from across Canada who, along with her, made a major contribution to the Canadian progressive movement. She was a lifelong peace activist. Stella was born on December 24, 1915, in the Municipality of Gimli, MB, and attended elementary and high school in Winnipeg. She was a lifelong member of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians and its predecessor, the Ukrainian Labour-Farmer Temple Association. From age 18 she was employed by the Workers Benevolent Association, a fraternal insurance organization, in various capacities and, in the years before retirement, held the post of National Treasurer. For many years her health was somewhat fragile, but that did not diminish her concern for, and attempts at, improving the life of her fellow citizens. She was a longtime activist, dedicated to the ideals of making Canada a more equitable and better place to live. We shall miss her courage, her determination, her sense of humour and style, and her sincere love for all of us. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff and volunteers at Jocelyn House for their consideration, respectful, and loving care of our mother and grandmother. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A commemoration of her life will be held at the Ukrainian Labour Temple, 591 Pritchard Ave. at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 17, 1999. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial contributions in Stellas memory may be made to the Ukrainian Labour Temple Foundation or to Jocelyn House, 177 Egerton Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 2W7.
