BESSIE GORBACK (GREEN) Was born on January 7, 1908 at Bender Hamlet a Jewish settlement in Manitoba to Morris and Julia Green the eldest of three daughters. She meet and married her husband Harry Gorback in Winnipeg in 1926. He predeceased her in 1980 after a wonderful marriage of 54 years. She was also predeceased by a sister Clara in 1989 and a son Morley in 1994. Bessie was a devoted loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, sisterinlaw and mother-in-law. She was well know for Gorbacks Delicatessen from which she retired at the age of 60 and enjoyed her golden years in good health until this last year. She leaves to cherish her memory a sister Dora Goldstein; her daughter and sonin-law Shirley and Harold Carley, her sister-in-law Molly Moss, her daughter-inlaw Gisha Gorback, her granddaughters Candice (Manny) Kimel, Sharon (Rob) Rosenblatt and her great-grandchildren, Steven, Jordan and Brenley-Rose Rosenblatt all of whom she adored. She will be remembered by her nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A. and Israel and by her loving cousins. She was a lifelong member of Hadassah and also contributed generously to many other charities. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and all the care givers of 3E Wing at Riverview Health Centre for their excellent care and compassion. A graveside service was held Monday, September 13, 1999 at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rabbi Green. Pallbearers were George Bricker, Jack Potash, Howard Raber, Glen Feuer, Arnold Permut, Doctor Neil Swirsky. If friends so desired donations in her memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
