MARY SKEHAR Peacefully, on Thursday, September 16, 1999, our dearly beloved Mother and Grandmother, Mary Skehar passed away at the age of 95 years at St. Josephs Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband William; brother John Sorochuk and sister Hania and leaves to mourn and cherish her memory; two sons, Gene (Ollie) and Boris (Olga) sister Oksana in Ukraine; grandchildren, Melanie, Mary-Anne and Glenn; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was born in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1923. She immediately began arrangements to bring her brother John to Canada. Mary worked long and hard hours at various jobs to provide and care for her family whose needs were always looked after before her own. She was always happiest when she was providing care and comfort to others. Mary especially enjoyed planting and maintaining her garden and numerous outdoor plants and flowers. Her last and most enjoyable place of employment was with the Carleton Club when it was still located on the Main St. South Site. Mary was a member of the Ladies Club at St. Michaels Ukrainian Orthodox Church for many years. The family would like to thank the St. Josephs Personal Care Home staff for the loving care they provided Mary in her final years. Prayers will be said on Sunday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20 at 1:00 p.m. also at Cropo Funeral Chapel with Very Reverend Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made in Marys memory to a charity of choice. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
