LEOPOLD GREGOIRE 1919 - 1999 After years of living in constant pain, God has released Leopold from his suffering. The family sadly announces his passing on September 17, 1999 at the age of 80 years. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his six children and their families, Lucille (Ron) Chay, Paul (Elsie), Gilles (Yvette), Richard (Diana), Laurent (Edith), Madeleine (Raymond) Gauthier; 12 grandchildren, Tara and Jarod Chay, Chantal Gauthier, Rob, Eric, Kerri, Rene, Lacey, Daniel, Nicole, Julien and Monique Gregoire. He is also survived by five brothers and 11 sisters. He was predeceased by his first wife of 30 years, Therese, in 1980 and his second wife of six years, Rosalie in 1990. Dad was afflicted with rheumatoid arthritis in his early 60s. He had to take early retirement and subsequently had to give up most activities he enjoyed except playing cards which he continued to do with a passion until he was hospitalized on July 22, 1999. Despite his pain, Dad never complained until these last few months. Through all these hard times, his sense of humour and wit never failed him. He modelled for us how to cope with adversity with grace and true grit. His family thanks God for giving Dad one of his last "good" days to celebrate his 80th birthday on June 19, 1999. Thank you to Dr. de Moissac, Dr. Bissonnette and the staff at Ste. Anne Hospital. A special heartfelt thanks to his Home Care workers who were with him for the past eight years. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Notre-Dame-de-Lorette Roman Catholic Church, Lorette, Manitoba. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday, September 22 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Maurice Jeanneau presiding. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
