Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE GMITEREK October 6, 1917 - September 17, 1999 With deepest sorrow the family announces the passing of George Gmiterek, beloved husband of Nelda. George was born in Winnipeg. He was employed at Carlings OKeefe for 43 years, retiring in October 6, 1977. He served in the 2nd Battalion Canadian Scottish Regiment during the Second World War. He was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary, and St. John Cantius parishes. George was a very kind, gentle person willing to help those in need, and will be sadly missed by all of his family. Besides his beloved wife Nelda, George is survived by two sisters Violet and Virginia Matrick; three sisters-in-law, Stella Skremetka, Jean Grace, Florence Matrick; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Rose and brother Alex. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 22 at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Avenue, with Rev. E. Hafichuk officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Skremetka, George Grace, Gerald Ostry, Ted Syposz, Robert Matrick, Verne Strahl. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manitoba Heart Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., or a charity of ones choice.
