Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD THOMAS HOBBS 1920 - 1999 Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 1999 with his wife Gwen by his side, at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Harold left his beloved family at the age of 78. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Gwen of 49 years; two sons, Brian and Alan; daughter Margaret (Peggy) Leuschen; son-in-law Allan and his pride and joy, granddaughter Ivy Lynn; his sister Mildred Ingram (Alan) of North Vancouver, B.C., niece Alison Bailey (Scott) and son Mitchell; sisters-in-law Florence (Aksel) Krogh, nephews, Harley and Stuart; Ethel Backlund (Jack), Duncan, B.C., nieces, Pat, Betty, Susan and Karen and their families; Ruth (Richard) Jarmoc, Gimli, Man., nephew Bill and nieces, Gwen Haroldene, Sharon, Kim and Valerie and their families. Harold was an employee of the Manitoba Telephone System for 36 years. During the last ten years before his retirement, he worked as the Administrator for the Telephone Pioneers of America, Chapter 50. He was a member of Kildonan United Church, singing in the choir and serving on several boards. He was one of the founding members of the Adult Club and kept the club going for 50 years. He was the Cub Master of the 35th Cub Pack, later becoming the District Commissioner for the Seven Oaks District. Along with his nephew Bill, he coached hockey and soccer at the Margaret Park Community Centre (now Vince Leah Recreation Centre). He was on the board and served his term as president. He served as president and on the board of McBeth House Seniors Centre and will be sadly missed by his many friends. Sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Shaoli Shi for her excellent care given to Harold. Also many thanks to all the people who visited him while in the hospital. The funeral service will be held at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Ave. on Tuesday, September 21 at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tony Maunder officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harolds memory to the Kildonan United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
