SYDNEY ALLAN November 16, 1913- September 18, 1999 On the Saturday, September 18, 1999 Sydney Allan peacefully passed away at the Grace Hospital. Take as he was affectionately known as had spent most of his life in the West end of Winnipeg. He was born in Winnipeg on November 16, 1913. He enlisted in the P.P.C.L.I. and served in the European Theatre of War until he was wounded while the the R.M.R. in Belgium. He spent a great deal of time in rehab in Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie. He had been employed with Coopers Bakery, Quality Foods, and for many years with Gillies Food Service. In the years prior to the war he had been employed with Sterling Drugs. He had been a long time member of No. 1 Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. Syd was predeceased by his parents and has one brother Percy and a sister-in-law Evelyn of Winnipeg. Syd will be remembered for his kind generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be sadly missed by his grandson Rennie and Kevin McElgunn also long time dedicated friend Jim Walker, his personal attendants Mr. and Mrs. Durwesh and Monique Desaulniers. A special thanks to Pastor Fast and Salem Mennonite Brethren Church for their many prayers. A Funeral Service will be held at Voyage Funeral Home with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
