VALERIE RUPP (RUPP)

VALERIE RUPP (RUPP) Valerie was born on February 16, 1901 in Austria-Hungary as the tenth child of Heinrich and Katharina Rupp. On April 28, 1923 she married Friedrich Rupp. They had three children Isabella, John and Richard. On January 23, 1945 she lost her beloved 15 year old son Richard due to war activities and in 1962 her husband passed away. In 1949 she immigrated with her family to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. Until 1954 she worked in the garment industry, but upon the birth of her first grandchild, she quit her job and devoted all her love and time taking care of her grandchildren and helping her children in any way she could. We will miss her and thank her for all the help and devotion she has given us. For the past four years she resided at the Oakview Personal Care Home where she passed away on September 16, 1999. Surviving are her daughter Isabella Neuendorff; son John; six grandchildren, Chris (Anita) Neuendorff, Ria (Michael) Mumford, Mark (Susie) Neuendorff, Britta (Len) Ritchot, Richard Rupp and Wilfred Rupp; as well as eight great-grandchildren. We want to thank our dear friend Rodica Schurath for all the help and love she gave our mother during her sickness. Thank you to all the staff of Oakview Place. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., with Reverend Franz Wiebe officiating. A private family ash interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Donations to the Parkinsons Foundation of Canada (Winnipeg Chapter), 200-5 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2T4 or the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9 will be gratefully accepted.
