VIOLA MARIA WITT Peacefully on September 17, 1999 at the Health Sciences Centre, Viola Witt passed away at the age of 69 years. Left to cherish Violas memory are her husband Leslie; daughter Sylvia; son-in-law James, numerous relations in Hungary, as well as family in Montreal, friends in Toronto, and she will be greatly missed by her "inherited family," daughter Laura and granddaughters, Gin and Gen. Viola was born February 15, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary where she was trained as couturier. She had a keen mind, and was constantly researching topics she found interesting. Her interests included mythology, history and Egyptology. Had she been born in another time, there is no doubt she would have been both a teacher and a student. She will always be remembered for being surrounded by her many little notes and articles that piqued her interest. It often seemed she "had a paper about everything." A special gift that will always be remembered was Violas ability to take any scrap of paper or bit of material and create a flower, a bird, or something from nature from it. Viola loved to garden and had a great appreciation for flowers and so the family would ask in lieu of donations, please send bright and colourful flowers in her memory.
