Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEFANIA (STEVIE) JOHNSON Stevie passed away peacefully at the Fred Douglas Lodge in Winnipeg, on September 18, 1999, at the age of 81. Stevie was a wonderfully devoted and loving wife and mother. She was truly kind and will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by many. She was born on March 28, 1918 to Einar and Sigurbjorg (Suzie) Johnson of Vestfold. They moved to Oak Point when Stevie was about ten years old. Being the oldest child in a farming family, Stevie had a lot of responsibilities with daily chores and helping raise five brothers and one sister. She loved all of the animals on the farm. Stevie married Barney in 1946 and they lived in Oak Point, except for a short time in Selkirk. Stevie was a warm, caring person who possessed many talents. She loved sewing, knitting and crocheting for her grandchildren, and any new babies born into the family. Stevie enjoyed ceramics and painting, producing many beautiful works of art. She loved watching and feeding the birds, being outdoors, gardening and had plants blooming year round in her home. Stevie loved most of all to be at home, surrounded by family and friends. She truly loved preparing a meal for her family, or having friends over for coffee. Stevie was spiritually and physically strong, overcoming great losses, as well as dealing with many ailments in her later years. Sadly, Stevie had to move to Winnipeg in order to continue her dialysis for the last several years. However, her thoughtful, generous nature remained intact, never wanting to be a burden to anyone. Stevie is survived by three sons, David (Dolores), Allan (Patty) and Buddy (Julie) seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, Emil (Anne), Neil (Gwen) sister Aenone (Reg) Studler; sisters-in-law Elsie (Joe) and Winnie (Lorne) and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Stevie was predeceased by her husband Barney, two infant sons Einar and Owen and brothers Joe, Lorne and Jack. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24 at the Oak Point Community Hall with Pastor Bob Lewis officiating. Interment to follow in the Oak Point Cemetery. The family wishes to extend thanks to all caregivers who looked after Stevie during the past few years, especially the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge who provided such excellent loving care. Your kindness is truly appreciated. As well, thank you to all who visited Stevie so regularly, and Dorothy for all of your thoughtful letters. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 200-55 Donald Street, or the donation of your choice.
